Video: Addiction- Why Do You And Why Don't You Want To Stop

When we want to change an addictive or problematic behaviour we often focus on the reasons why we want to stop. It can be scary to even consider the reasons why we might want to continue. Yet we do these behaviours for a reason, we get something from them. Addictions can be seen as coping strategies and the substances we use might be commonly used amongst our friends.

If we don't consider what we will be losing by stopping our behaviours or addictions, our changes are less likely to be successful. The Decisional Balance is simple tool that I use, both with myself and my clients.
